Infinity Learning is an independent tutoring service. We are not Cambridge International Education, we are not the British Council, and we do not register candidates for exams. This guide summarises official information in our own words so you can ask better questions. Always confirm current details on the official pages linked below.

This guide is for parents in Saudi Arabia, including families in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Al Khobar, whose children study Cambridge qualifications privately. It summarises the registration process the British Council describes for private candidates. We do not quote fees, deadlines or venues, because they change and the British Council publishes them for each exam series.

What the British Council's Saudi Arabia page covers

The British Council's page on registering as a private candidate covers school exams from three awarding bodies: Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel and OxfordAQA. This guide concerns Cambridge. Cambridge itself says private candidates enter exams through an approved centre or provider, and that in some countries a British Council office is one such route.

The registration steps, as the British Council describes them

  1. Complete the registration form online. The form is on the British Council's School Registration System. You need a valid email address, because the British Council sends all communication there.
  2. Pay. Payment is made online through the same system. The page explains that registration is not processed until payment is made. It also lists alternative ways to pay, such as a bank draft payable to the British Council or cash through its customer services. Check the page for what is currently accepted.
  3. Receive your entry details. After registration you receive a Statement of Entry and venue information. The page says this arrives about three weeks before the exams, so check your email and spam folder.

Things the page tells you to look up yourself

  • Fees: listed on the registration system and in downloadable fee lists. They are not on the page itself.
  • Deadlines: published on a separate registration dates and deadlines page (linked below) and in key-date documents. Some downloadable files linked from the registration page carried earlier years in their titles when we checked, so treat the dates page and the registration system as the current sources. The page notes that late registration may be possible for a penalty fee, so do not assume it will be, and do not plan around it.
  • Venues: not named on the page. You are told your venue with your Statement of Entry.
  • Changes: the page offers forms to amend or cancel entries, request candidate letters, correct names or dates of birth, change subject codes and apply for replacement certificates.
  • Eligibility: the page does not set out detailed eligibility rules. If you are unsure whether your child qualifies for a subject, ask the British Council before paying.

A checklist for parents

1. Confirm the qualification and syllabus code

Cambridge's administrative zones affect which version of a qualification is offered, and Cambridge has announced a phased move from O Level to IGCSE for some zones. Ask the British Council which syllabus code applies to each subject, then read our O Levels vs IGCSE guide.

2. Check each subject for private-candidate eligibility

Cambridge says some syllabuses or options are not open to private candidates and that candidates must be able to meet every part of the assessment. Check practical or speaking components for each subject.

3. Use the right exam timetable

Cambridge publishes separate timetables for each administrative zone and says candidates must use the correct one. Confirm with the British Council which applies, and check the timetable again shortly before the exams, because timetables can be revised.

4. Keep your registration records

Keep your confirmation, proof of payment and Statement of Entry. If a detail is wrong, use the amendment process on the British Council page as soon as you notice.

5. Plan study time backwards from the exam

Choose the exam series, subtract the registration deadline and the weeks you need for past papers, and work out how much of the syllabus is left to cover.

Who is responsible for what

Registering, paying and attending are the responsibility of the family and the candidate. The British Council and Cambridge set the rules for exams, entries and results. A tutor supports study only. Infinity Learning is an independent tutoring service. We are not a British Council agent, we do not register candidates and we cannot promise an exam result.

How online tutoring helps Saudi families

For students preparing privately, a tutor can turn the syllabus into a weekly plan, explain difficult topics, check practice answers and teach exam technique. Saudi Arabia is two hours behind Pakistan, so after-school lessons are practical. Tell us the subject, the syllabus code and the series you are aiming for. We will say honestly what we can arrange, subject to tutor availability, and your child can try one free introductory trial class first.

Questions parents ask

Can I register my child directly with Cambridge?

Cambridge says private candidates register through an approved exam centre or provider, not directly. In Saudi Arabia, the British Council describes a registration process for private candidates.

How will I know my exam venue?

The British Council page says venue details come with the Statement of Entry, about three weeks before the exams.

Is late registration guaranteed?

No. The page says late registration may be possible for a penalty fee, so treat it as a last resort rather than a plan.
